Telecom companies have substituted caller tunes with standard caller tunes that radiate information of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19). The virus has spread to more than 90 countries worldwide. In India itself, 43 people were infected and the count seems to rise daily.

The 30-second caller tune seeks to spread awareness of coronavirus and tells others about taking steps to avoid being a patient or contracting the deadly illness. Only after the 30-second audio clip ends operation, the call gets connected.

The 30-second audio warning begins with a coughing sound, accompanied by a voice reminding people to take precautionary measures to avoid transmitting coronavirus, such as washing hands with soap. The message can be received in both Hindi and English.

“Always protect your face with a handkerchief or tissue while coughing or sneezing. Regularly clean hands with soap. Avoid touching your face, eyes, or nose. If someone has cough, fever, or breathlessness maintain one metre distance. If needed, visit your nearest health centre immediately,” the message, which is followed by a helpline number +91-11-23797-8046, says.

The drawback, however, is that the announcement is quite long and can be a challenge when you call someone in case of an emergency or any services like 100, 110, etc. There’s a way to bypass the pre-call warning on Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone for your respite.
