Google Duo Now Support Up to 12 Participants in Group Video Call

Because of COVID-19 we are all working together to practice safe social distance, we are finding and adapting ways to replace the personal link between friends, family and colleagues, particularly through video calling. Google Duo is increasing its group calling capabilities to bring up to 12 people into a single group call to help more of us stay connected

Sanaz Ahari, Sr. made the declaration of the Director of Product and Design at Google, through a Twitter post.It’s Duo’s second benefit since last year. First, Google restricted users to single-on – one video calls, and then rolled out group-style support with a maximum capacity of 8 people.

Recognizing the significance of community calling in the current situation, Sanaz Ahari expressed that as of today the function will be applicable. With people living in the home flattening the coronavirus curve, the only way to work is through group calling and message communication, especially from home scenarios.

Yet other services including Skype require up to 50 users to enter a call, and as many as 32 users are accepted by Apple’s FaceTime.

The duo also falls short of the 100 users sponsored by Google’s Hangouts Program. Now, for those who love the duo and its simpler approach to video calls, it’s a welcome increase.
